Bhubaneswar: Government of Odisha has waived the examination fees for matriculation students of the ongoing academic session. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday ordered the waiver in the larger interest of the students. AIR Bhubaneswar Correspondent reports that more than six lakh students will stand to benefit from this decision. The decision to exempt the students from paying their exam fees entails about 27 crore rupees as cost to the government, no student of the schools under the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha will be deprived of sitting for the matriculation examination due to want of money. The government understands that the pandemic has impacted the finances of many of the parents. Meanwhile classes for the tenth and twelfth standard have resumed from the 8th of this month after a long gap of nine months with a fair degree of attendance. While the classes are meant to offset the academic loss of the students, the waiver of four hundred twenty rupees as exam fees per head, will help them pin their focus on their academic preparation and performance.
